|The Alyson that is still in my mind…5 years old and wanting to grow up to be a mermaid.|
|In this blog, from time to time I talk about my daughter, Alyson. Alyson is a junior in high school which gives me about roughly 18 months before she is off to start real life. My “child” won’t be with me on a daily basis. Starting with campus life, she’ll
be on her own. I can’t say that I’m ready for this…I can’t even say that she’s ready. After all, I am one of “those” mothers. The one who hasn’t taken the time to teach how to sew on a button or starch a shirt, ’cause it’s just way easier for me to do. Don’t get me wrong, she’s been my constant companion and has seen me do what it takes to run a household from paying bills, cooking, menu planning/shopping, to crafting, cleaning, and decorating. I’ve just never given her hands on lessons.
As I teach Alyson, I’ll include some of those lessons in this blog. So, don’t be surprised to see how to cook oatmeal, boil an egg, or sew on a button in upcoming posts. (I am completely slow blinking and eye rolling whoever decided to take Home Economics out of school curriculum!)
