Shrimp cocktail is one of my favorite things. I remember feeling so grownup and sophisticated the first time that I ever order one. It was in the Big 80’s and me, my Big 80’s hair, Magenta Mist lips, and a date were at Spats Restaurant for my birthday celebration. Spats had junkitique decor, lots of wrought iron, cobblestones floors, and a great menu. Anyway, ice cold shrimp and cocktail sauce served in a martini glass, what’s not to like?!
So here I am decades later…sans 80’s hair, magenta lipstick, and that guy, celebrating my birthday. Still loving shrimp cocktail, but with a spin; warm grilled shrimp and horseradish sauce, served in a martini glass. As I enjoy this shrimp cocktail, along with some incredible bbq ribs and unbelievable cake, I’ll be giving thanks for my own personal New Year!
