The Alyson that is still in my mind…5 years old and wanting to grow up to be a mermaid. |
In this blog, from time to time I talk about my daughter, Alyson. Alyson is a junior in high school which gives me about roughly 18 months before she is off to start real life. My “child” won’t be with me on a daily basis. Starting with campus life, she’ll
be on her own. I can’t say that I’m ready for this…I can’t even say that she’s ready. After all, I am one of “those” mothers. The one who hasn’t taken the time to teach how to sew on a button or starch a shirt, ’cause it’s just way easier for me to do. Don’t get me wrong, she’s been my constant companion and has seen me do what it takes to run a household from paying bills, cooking, menu planning/shopping, to crafting, cleaning, and decorating. I’ve just never given her hands on lessons. As I teach Alyson, I’ll include some of those lessons in this blog. So, don’t be surprised to see how to cook oatmeal, boil an egg, or sew on a button in upcoming posts. (I am completely slow blinking and eye rolling whoever decided to take Home Economics out of school curriculum!) P.S |
Oh I would love to lean in on your wisdom as you teach Alison some ins and outs of daily cooking. What an amazing mom you are. Alison is so lucky to have you and so are we- your blog family!
