Happy Hour was big back in the mid 80’s. On Fridays, after work we’d meet up at one of the popular establishments that hosted happy hour. It usually consisted of $1 drink specials and a freebie buffet…fruit and cheese display, vegetable crudite, and a hot item. Complete score if the hot item was steamed shrimp! There was one place that usually offered $1 margaritas. The strawberry/lime was my absolute favorite. Although I was of legal drinking age, I preferred the virgin drink because it was just as tasty, I didn’t drink and drive, plus it was topped off with a dollop of whipped cream.
Today, I made Strawberry Lime Fizzes for Alyson and myself. Strawberry sorbet, lime juice, simple syrup, and sparkling water come together for a refreshing drink. I couldn’t imagine a better happy hour…My 16 year old telling me all about her day. Seriously, the best happy hour ever 🙂
Although my beverage is non-alcoholic, feel free to add some tequila and orange liquer for a fabulous fizzy strawberry margarita. Perfect for Cinco De Mayo!
Strawberry Lime Fizz
makes 2
1 cup strawberry sorbet, slightly thawed
1/4 cup lime juice
1/4 cup simple syrup*
1 cup sparkling water, chilled
1/2 cup crushed ice
lime slices for garnish
Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker or large lidded jar and shake until well blended. Serve in glasses garnished with lime slices.
Yum! Wonder if I can just puree some fresh strawberries instead of using sorbet….may try it.
@Lorie…I believe fresh strawberries would work well. I’d probably add a little sugar to my puree. I’m going to give it a try too 🙂
these look AMAZING! Have to try these at my next party! Love it! Thanks 🙂
