|If I have burgers with bacon and the works, you know there’s cheese…|

We’ve already established that I’m sensible when in comes to eating out…my family prefers to say that I’m cheap. Not true! Some things are just as good or even better when made at home, like these burgers. Why would I spend $15 per person on a burger that I can make at home?! Not to mention the tax and tip. For $45 I can buy some good quality beef and the accoutrements to make the best burgers, with money left over to buy wine and black truffle salt…my new BFF.
Now that I think about it, my “cheapness” allows these folks get off real easy! They get to have this great burger at home. I have one question for them: Where’s my tip!
|Start with good quality ground round…you’re on your way to a great burger.|
|After seasoning, divide beef into 4 equal portions, using those to encase your lovely cheese.|

|After the burgers are cooked, put them on good buns and add your favorite burger toppings.|
Cheese Stuffed Burgers
1 1/2 pounds ground round
4 ounces cheese, divided into 4 portions…I used Sharp Vermont Cheddar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoons onion powder
1/3 cup cold water
4 burger buns, split and toasted…I used onion poppy seed rolls(yummy)
Choice of lovely accoutrements, such as:
crisp cooked bacon
In a large bowl, combine beef, salt, pepper, onion powder, and water. Using your hands, mix until water and been absorbed by the beef. Divide into 4 equal balls. Working one at a time, divide each ball into 2 pieces with one slightly larger than the other and shape into patties. Place one portion of cheese onto the center of the larger patty, top with smaller patty, and bring over hanging edges up to enclose cheese. Shape, sealing the cheese within the two patties.
When finished with remaining portions, cook burgers as desired in a heavy skillet on medium heat or outdoor grill, 6-8 minutes per side. Turn only once, do not press burgers, allow burgers to rest 3 minutes before assembling on buns with desired toppings.
