In my “Coming Up In July On ShawnsPlate”, I listed Yummy Pasta. Unfortunately, my already limited computer skills really lack when it comes to putting this little show on the road…literally in Birmingham! So, although today is August 1st, here’s my July offering for Yummy Pasta.
|Do you know this plate?|
Last year my daughter, Alyson, came up with her “dream idea” of pasta. It included Conecah Hickory Smoked Sausage (we usually purchase on yearly trips to Birmingham), Bowtie Pasta, and Alfredo Sauce. Since we were already in Birmingham, I decided to make some. This time, I added shrimp and wow! was it yummy?!
Alyson was so excited to share this dish with her Nana. We used Nana’s kitchen and Nana’s plates. They’re Ivy by Franciscan, the same pattern used on my favorite old tv show…I Love Lucy.
|The yumminess starts with browned hickory smoked sausage!|
Alyson’s Yummy Pasta
1/2 pound hickory smoked sausage, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 jar roasted garlic alfredo sauce, I used Classico
1/2 cup milk, I used 2%
2 stalks green onion, chopped
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
6oz bowtie pasta, cooked according to package directions, I used 1/2 of a 12oz box
In a large skillet on medium-high heat, brown sausage on cut sides, about 1 1/2 minutes per side. Transfer browned sausage to a plate. Add butter to hot skillet, when melted add shrimp in a single layer and cook 2 minutes per side. Add chopped green onion and sausage to skillet, reduce heat to medium and stir in alfredo sauce and milk. When mixture boils, reduce heat to low, add cooked pasta, stirrng to coat. Allow to simmer for 2 minutes. Serve immediately.
